Introducing irrigation management in GroSens Suite
Great results come from great irrigation decisions. Our new irrigation management tools make it easier than ever to steer your crop using Grodan’s growing advice. Now available in your GroSens Suite workspace.
Grodan’s growing advice
Greenhouse growers require structured cultivation information due to the complexity of high tech cultivation systems and the continuing increases in the scale of their operations. We provide such information in the form of the Grodan 6-phase model. It is a solution when used in combination with our growing media and GroSens system enabling root zone management by providing users with a blue print for plant steering from planting through to the final harvest of the cultivation.
Enable the advice panel
Locate the new menu icon in the top‑right corner, it looks like a scholar’s cap.
A. Click the scholar cap icon to expand the advice panel.
Get the right advice
GroSens Suite provides tailored irrigation advice per crop, substrate model and seasonal phase. Before you start, make sure the correct substrate model is selected in your Section settings.
B. Select your crop.
C. Select the current phase of your crop. Choose the growth phase that matches your crop right now. Each phase includes a short description to help you decide.
D. Choose your strategy: Vegetative or Generative. Select the strategy that fits your climate and desired crop balance.
E. The table displays irrigation targets and recommendations based on your selected crop, substrate model and crop phase. Use the advice to compare with the performance indicators and analytics, module and set or adjust your irrigation parameters.
Performance indicators
Our performance indicators give you an immediate, actionable snapshot of what’s going on in your rootzone. We provide them so you can quickly detect drifts, validate irrigation performance, and adjust fertigation or run times before plants show stress.
Where to find the performance indicators
You’ll find the new performance indicators at the top of every module, they’re placed prominently in the header for instant visibility.
What they show
Each indicator gives you a snapshot of a key irrigation metric, so you can see the most important values at a glance.
How they are calculated
Each performance indicator is computed from your GroSens sensor readings and system events over a defined period (real‑time or rolling window). You can always hover over a performance indicator to view the calculation method if you want to know how this value is generated.
A. Irrigation stop
Irrigation stop is the amount of time passed between last detected irrigation and sunset/lights off. This value always shows the irrigation stop time of previous night.
B. Irrigation start
Irrigation start is the amount of time passed between sunrise/lights on and first detected irrigation. This value always shows the irrigation start time of the current day.
C. WC decrease
WC decrease overnight is the dry back measured between yesterday’s last detected irrigation and today’s first detected irrigation.
WC decrease since last irrigation is the dry back measured between latest detected irrigation and latest measured WC.
D. WC day level
WC day level shows the both the lowest and highest measured WC average from lights on/sunrise to lights off/sunset moment.
E. EC substrate
EC substrate is the average measured EC over a 24h period.
Analytics module
The Analytics module shows the last 7 days of irrigation and rootzone performance indicators trends so you can review responses to changes, spot slow drifts, and validate steering decisions.
Where to find the Analytics module
You’ll find the new module as a newly added menu option in the main header in GroSens Suite.
What does the Analytics module show
It shows you the 7 days history of your performance indicators allowing you to detect trends, validate changes in your strategy and detect early signs of rootzone environment changes.
